This trip is all about three beautiful ships that lay in the immediate area of the Sheerness Royal Naval Dockyard. We depart Queenborough with a full commentary from one of our favourite local historians and head out in to the Thames past the Docks and out to visit the sunken wreck of the USS Richard Montgomery, once we are ready we return to the river Medway to visit the wreck sites of HMS Bulwark which sank following an explosion in November 1914 with the tragic loss of over 700 lives. We then visit the site of HMS Princess Irene which blew up at anchor in a similar situation 6 months later with the tragic loss of 352 lives. the ship herself was only 12 months old and built as an ocean liner but requisitioned by the Navy in 1914 on her completion.
