Return from Queenborough, Isle of Sheppey to Southend Pier

Catch the Spirit of Sheppey from Queenborough Harbour to the world’s longest pier at Southend on Sea. From there catch the pier train to see the sights, visit friends, shop or simply stroll along the promenade. You can return home on the same day or at a later date by request (subject to availability).

Return from Southend Pier to Queenborough, Isle of Sheppey

Take a trip from Southend Pier to Queenborough Harbour on the Isle of Sheppey. Whether it be visiting friends and family, sampling local cuisine or simply enjoying the attractions of the island you’re sure to have a grand day out on the island. You can return home on the day or later by request where (subject to availability).

Sunset Cruise

Our Sunset cruise departs from Queenborough’s All Tide Landing ahead of sunset and sails along the Swale or Medway Rivers. This is an ideal trip for keen photographers and for romantics looking to spend some quality time together, or just as a fun start to your weekend. This trip will return to the all tide landing during twilight, and is a trip lasting up to two hours. Guests can purchase any drinks or snacks from our on board bar as they wish.

 

 

 

Historic Thames from Queenborough, Isle of Sheppey

Take a trip out on our flagship Spirit of Sheppey launching from Queenborough Harbour. On the way out to see the historic sights, take the opportunity to spot local wildlife which, if you’re lucky might include porpoises and/ or seals native to the Thames Estuary. Look out for the Maunsell Forts on your trip. (Approx 3 hours).

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee what animals will be sighted on the trip.

SS Richard Montgomery Round Trip from Queenborough Harbour, Isle of Sheppey

Catch the Spirit of Sheppey out on to the Thames Estuary where we will take you as close as is safe to do so, out to the sunken SS Richard Montgomery. Both exciting and interesting you will see the protruding masts of the WW2 warship that still holds an explosive cargo that is still monitored to this day. (Approx 1 hour)

Please note, we will not be entering the exclusion zone and will be sticking to all the rules and requirements set down by the authorities.

 

SS Richard Montgomery Round Trip from Southend Pier


Take the train along Southend Pier to where Jamie Oliver films Friday Night Feast and board the Spirit of Sheppey (our 197 seat passenger ferry). From there we will take a trip out to the wreck of the SS Richard Montgomery, a sunken world war two liberty ship that ran aground in 1944. This wreck is carefully monitored by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency because its rotting hull still holds 1,400 tons of explosives that are too unstable to move. This truly is an eerie and exciting adventure for all the family. (Approx 1 hour)

The Ferry that Rocks! Project Redsand Tour from Southend Pier


For music and history lovers alike, this tour will take you back in time to the 1960s where pirate radio ruled the air (and sea) waves and was the inspiration for the 2009 Richard Curtis film The Boat That Rocked. These illegal stations rebelled against the record companies’ hold on mainstream radio stations. On this tour you’ll take the same trip the DJs took out to Project Redsand and you will see where it all began. You can enjoy listening to the music that defined a generation on our superb sound system. (Approx 2 hours)

Ticket includes Southend Pier train ticket.

Island Cruises donate a proportion of the ticket price to Project Redsand to preserve the site for future generations.

Afternoon Tea from Queenborough, Isle of Sheppey

Treat your friends and family for a delicious afternoon tea cruise on the Thames Estuary. Sailing from Queenborough Harbour, aboard you will be treated to tea, coffee and miniature cakes and sandwiches. This is the ultimate way to while away the day while the rest of the world is stuck in traffic you’ll be sitting back, chatting and relaxing with those you care about.

 

 

Family Afternoon Tea on the Thames Estuary from Southend Pier

Spend a lazy  afternoon enjoying an afternoon tea or coffee (includes miniature cakes and sandwiches) on board the Spirit of Sheppey as we take a leisurely cruise along the Thames Estuary from Southend Pier. Spot seals, shoot the breeze or simply take in the sea air on this relaxing lunchtime trip before heading back for a spot of shopping with your besties. You can also enjoy a delicious ice cream from our on board cafe. (Approx 2 hours)

Please note due to tide times, departure times may vary between 2pm and 3pm. You will be notified on your purchase confirmation.

 

Pirates Cruise

Come and join the ‘Spirit of Sheppey’ for a rip roaring, swashbuckling adventure on the high seas. Sailing to sunken wrecks, and looking out for sea monsters (seals and porpoise) The trip will likely last for 2 hours and includes refreshments for the kids and parents as well as fully immersive kids entertainment for the entire adventure. Spaces are limited on this cruise, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

 

 

 

Enjoy a festive evening dancing under the stars whilst cruising along the historic River Medway.

Come and join our party this Christmas as we celebrate over the festive period.

You will depart from Queenborough at 7pm, sailing for approximately 3 hours, this cruise is perfect for a Christmas night out. You will be welcomed on board with a glass of mulled wine to drink while you start sailing the historic River Medway with all its Napoleonic Forts and many points of Interest.

Kids at Christmas aboard the “Spirit of Sheppey”

Santa has swapped his sleigh for a boat so bring your children or grandchildren and join in the festive spirit of Christmas, cruising with Santa Claus around the Historic River Medway.

Enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie while you are listening to Christmas carols playing in the background. Kids will be able to enjoy a 30 minute magic show and balloon modelling while they enjoy a snack and a soft drink. Santa will be walking around the boat, meeting all children, the small ones and those ‘just a little bit older’ too. Each child will receive a Christmas present directly from Santa!.

Fish and Chip Cruise
Come and join us on the “Spirit of Sheppey” for a fish and chip supper departing from Queenborough.
